What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: Gravatar Privacy Policy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to other members in the context of your comment.

If you upload images (profile pics, etc) to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact forms

We keep contact form submissions indefinitely for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.

If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed. When you make a payment, a temporary cookie is created that keeps track of when a payment is attempted and if a payment is completed. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

Embedded content from other websites

Content on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. How we protect your data

The internet is not a secure medium. However we take reasonable technical and organizational precautions to prevent the loss, misuse or alteration of your personal information. When you submit sensitive information via the website, your information is protected both online and offline. All content on this website, and all transmissions of data to and from the website, are encrypted with secure server software (SSL). You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your web browser, or looking for “https” at the beginning of the address of the web page.

While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Administrative access to our data list is limited only to the website administrator and is accessed only when he needs to perform a specific job (for example, troubleshooting tech problems you have inquired about). We regularly review the latest data protection guidelines and regulations. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we update our privacy policy we will post the changes on this page.
